Support
Whether you’re planning ahead, feeling unsure, or coping with a recent loss, you don’t have to navigate this alone.
This page brings together ways we can support you, along with trusted external resources.
Planning & Quality-of-Life Support
Many families contact us before a crisis point.

Jo, our Registered Veterinary Nurse, offers gentle quality-of-life and end-of-life planning consultations by phone. These conversations give you space to talk through changes you’re noticing, ask questions, and feel clearer about next steps.

Planning does not mean giving up.
It means protecting your pet’s comfort and allowing decisions to feel thoughtful rather than rushed.

Practical Guidance
How do I know when it might be time?
Changes in appetite, mobility, breathing, comfort and interaction can all be signs that your pet’s quality of life is changing. If you’re unsure, a calm planning conversation can help you explore what you’re seeing.

What happens during an at-home visit?
Appointments are unhurried and gentle. Sedation is given first so your pet can fully relax before the final medication is administered peacefully. You will have time and space afterwards.
What happens after the appointment?
If you choose cremation, we can personally arrange this and oversee the respectful return of your pet’s ashes. A small fur clipping keepsake is included with every euthanasia appointment.

Appointment Availability

Whispaws is an appointment-based service.

We focus on planned, unhurried end-of-life care. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, with limited weekend availability by arrangement.

We will always do our best to accommodate short-notice requests where possible, but availability can vary.

We aim to respond to messages as promptly as possible during working hours (Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm).

If You Need Urgent Veterinary Care

Whispaws is not an emergency service.

If your pet requires urgent or out-of-hours veterinary attention, please contact your usual veterinary practice or their designated out-of-hours provider immediately.

Alternatively we work with:
• Wilson’s Vets, Dordon and MiNight Vet, Castle Donnington
who will be able to assist you in the event of an emergency.

Please note that emergency practices do not routinely offer home visits. In urgent situations, your pet may need to be taken directly to a veterinary clinic for immediate care.
