Aftercare and Cremation
Saying goodbye is hard enough without worrying about practical arrangements. Whispaws can personally manage aftercare for you, gently and respectfully, so you don’t have to navigate anything alone.
We take care of everything, so you don’t have to worry about the practical details.
Aftercare Options
You may choose what feels right for you and your pet.
Individual cremation (ashes returned or scattered)
Your pet is cremated on their own, with ashes either returned to you or scattered in the crematorium meadow.
Shared (communal) cremation
Your pet is cremated alongside others, and ashes are not returned.
Some families prefer this simpler option, and we can arrange this on your behalf.
Individual cremation
We work with King’s Hill Pet Crematorium, an independent local crematorium with a strong reputation for compassionate and professional care.
We always offer individual cremation, which means your pet is cremated on their own. This is guaranteed.
Whispaws manages the arrangements on your behalf and oversees the process from start to finish, ensuring everything is handled with care and dignity.
You are also welcome to make your own arrangements if you prefer.
Shared (Communal) Cremation
We can also arrange shared cremation if you would prefer a simpler option.
With shared cremation, pets are cremated together and ashes are not returned.
This option is handled with the same care and respect, and may feel right for families who do not wish to keep ashes.
If you are unsure which option is right for you, we are always happy to talk this through.
Pricing & Estimates
Aftercare pricing depends on the option you choose.
We will provide a clear, personalised estimate once we understand your preferences, so you can make decisions without uncertainty.
Shared cremation is a lower-cost option, while individual cremation with ashes returned is more comprehensive.
For general pricing guidance, please see our Pricing page.
Transfers & Personal Return of Ashes
If you choose cremation, we arrange the transfer of your pet to the crematorium with care and dignity.
If you would like ashes returned, we can personally deliver them to your home. We aim to return your pet’s ashes within around one week.
You are also welcome to collect your pet’s ashes directly from the crematorium by appointment, if you would prefer or wish to receive them sooner.
We will keep you informed and let you know as soon as your pet’s ashes are ready.
Every part of the process is managed thoughtfully and respectfully.
Memorial Keepsakes
Some families choose a keepsake to honour their pet’s memory.
Our in-house designer creates bespoke memorial designs to create a unique tribute to your pet.
You can explore available options on our Memorial Keepsakes page.
Ashes Containers
If you choose to have your pet’s ashes returned, there are two main options.
Decorated Scatter Tube
Ashes can be returned in a biodegradable Bluebell Wood scatter tube.
This option is ideal if you would like to:
• Scatter the ashes at a meaningful location
• Bury your pet’s ashes
• Transfer the ashes into an alternative container later
The tube is designed to allow scattering to be carried out in a practical and dignified way.
Wooden Casket
For families who would prefer a more permanent memorial, ashes can be returned in a solid wooden casket.
Available in:
• Light oak
• Dark mahogany
The casket includes a personalised engraved name plate as standard.
For those who would like something more bespoke, additional engraving options are available.
Many families choose this option if they would like a lasting memorial to keep at home.
Other options are also available, including urns, cuddle stones and tribute frames. We are always happy to talk through these gently and help you choose what feels right.
Choosing What Feels Right
If you’re unsure which option would suit you best, we are happy to talk through it gently and help you decide.
There is no pressure to choose immediately.
